I'm dreaming of a white trash Christmas
So at Cedarville university, everyone goes all out and decorates for open dorms. There were many beautifully or cleverly decorated units/halls throughout campus. Clue Christmas, Wizard of Oz Christmas, Nursing Home Christmas, etc. My unit was decorated, quite literally, last minute. Three hours before open dorms, myself and three other girls went shopping at Dollar General for Christmas decorations.
An hour later, we returned with wrapping paper, ribbons, various lights, tape, plastic candy canes, tinsel, and blow up ornaments. The theme in mind was "Under the Christmas tree". The ceiling was to be decorated to look like the bottom of a Christmas tree, and the doors were wrapped up like gifts. Our cinder block walls were also covered in "gifts", with squares of wrapping paper with bows attached. We were originally to dress up like presents ourselves, but instead decided to dress like children, wearing pigtails, pajamas, and pretend freckles (or real freckles, in my case).
Under the Christmas Tree was our working title. Instead, we should have posted a sign on our door that said "White Trash Christmas". Our unit currently resembles what I imagine the activity center of a trailer park would look like. There is a menagerie of lights, bright wrapping paper, and mismatched ribbons and bows. Glitter from the tinsel is all over our floor. By dressing up like children with freckles, we were not cute. We instead completed the Trailer Park theme. We just needed some lawn chairs to sit on and we would have definately won first place. Leaving my room and entering the hallway is rather like seeing the chaos left by an explosion at the North Pole.
I grew up close to Frankenmuth. I know what Christmas is supposed to be. It's classy and clean, with fresh white snow, white Christmas lights, poinsettias, and nativity scenes with a light shining on baby Jesus' smiling face. Christmas is definately NOT supposed to be big blow up ornaments the sizes of beach balls and lights that hang down in your face everytime you try to walk out the front door.
If Santa walked into our unit right now, we would all definately be labeled with a "Ho Ho Ho"

Very entertaining, Jessi. Acutally "Under the Christmas Tree" does sound creative to me, but then, I'm easily impressed. My unit, after all, did "I Know What You Did Last Christmas" and covered ourselves with blood.
Oh, it was a great idea in theory. We just shouldn't have tried to pull it off in two hours. But I was telling everyone about your theme, actually, because the morbid side of me (masochism is always funny, and "hey, wouldn't it be neat if a guy on fire came running through the cars, screaming and flailingh is arms?") has always thought it would be fun to play a murder victim. No one else went for it.
That's funny :)
Good thing Jesus (and Santa) show up everwhere!
